The autonomous heavy truck provided by Huanyu Zhixing has become a unique sight. This heavy truck is 18 meters long and can carry up to 40 tons. Standing in front of this heavy truck gives a sense of facing a giant. Typically, heavy trucks are perceived as bulky, slow, and dangerous, but this heavy truck from Huanyu Zhixing has been upgraded through the team's dedicated research and continuous innovation, utilizing the latest 5G connectivity technology, transforming the bulky vehicle into a nimble giant.

According to Liu Cheng, a control engineer at Huanyu Zhixing, there are significant differences between the autonomous driving of heavy trucks and that of ordinary passenger cars. Heavy trucks are heavy, have high inertia, and require longer braking distances at high speeds. They have a relatively high chassis, which increases instability, and a larger turning radius. More importantly, as logistics tools, the head of the truck and the trailer can be separated; a trailer that transports fresh goods today may be used for express delivery tomorrow. These issues pose considerable challenges for the perception, planning, and control of heavy trucks.

After extensive experimental validation, the research and development team at Huanyu Zhixing decided to take the fast track of 5G V2X. The three main features of 5G compared to 4G are high bandwidth, low latency, and high reliability. For autonomous driving, fast, large, and stable data transmission is essential for ensuring the safe operation of vehicles. The 4G network struggles to guarantee this, but the 5G network can achieve a downlink speed of over 2GB per second, which is sufficient! After using 5G V2X connectivity technology, Huanyu Zhixing's autonomous heavy truck can interact with road RSUs, such as cameras and traffic lights, to obtain real-time perception and traffic information. The heavy truck does not have a large number of sensors installed; it only has a lidar and a camera mounted at the front to ensure basic safety. Most reliable information comes from the 5G network, allowing the truck to have a broad awareness of its surroundings through V2X technology, even in blind spots like turning corners. Additionally, the R&D team has developed a set of control algorithms specifically for Huanyu Zhixing's heavy trucks, ensuring safety while maintaining vehicle stability and comfort.

Based on 5G V2X technology, Huanyu Zhixing's autonomous heavy truck can currently achieve features such as super cruise, autonomous lane changing, traffic light recognition, and autonomous emergency braking, allowing drivers to take their hands off the wheel in regular urban scenarios, effectively reducing driver fatigue and helping to avoid drowsy driving, speeding, and dangerous maneuvers, bringing the "disaster truck" back to being a "freight truck"! Additionally, at this summit, the 5G Autonomous Driving Alliance was officially established, with Huanyu Zhixing becoming one of the first members as an emerging autonomous driving solution company. In the future, the alliance will focus on the development and integration of 5G and autonomous driving technology, conducting research on key technologies for autonomous driving in a 5G environment, simulation testing, as well as demonstrations of autonomous driving business, industrial promotion, and collaborative exchanges, achieving collaborative innovation and win-win integration.
